SYNOPSIS
To live is to suffer; to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.
Friedrich Nietzsche.

Frankie...

The bitterness is consuming. It's intensity slashes and claws at my insides, it's hatred wrenching my soul as it curls and nurtures my need for revenge.
HIS torture only feeds my vice. I won't let HIM break me, only strengthen me. The pain HE gives is welcomed, it's rawness fuelling the loathing inside with each of HIS thrashes and tears on my pale skin, with every harsh truth HE breathes in my ear and with each of HIS crippling holds.

I have waited too long for this and I'll never let the bastard win.

He will have to end me before I give in.

But now HE has a weapon against me. Something I swore throughout my life I would never let in;

Love.

Tate.

Tate...

Her strength astounds me. HE doesn't seem to break her.

HIS relentless persecution and determination to bury her under his furious reign and brutality eats at my soul. It has found that dark place inside me, the pit of hell I had locked and secured away, and enriched it, demanded its flourish and ripened its ferocity. The family wrath.

She'll never give in, and I pray every night as I guide her through the darkness that tomorrow will bring the light to her soul before it is consumed, finally, by the plague of HIM.

Evil.

Jude.

Jude...

She blossoms under my torture, the soft suppleness of her skin ripping and tearing as though her soul is trying to break free from the agony.

I'll allow it, because I can. Because I need her soul. I crave the sustenance it feeds my rage with, my thirst for cruelty quenched by the sounds of her desolate screams and my hunger for blood, nourished by the slow drip of her life force at my feet.

She thinks I won't break her, so does he. They underestimate the blood that slithers through my veins. It's the blood that tenures those around me.

The bloodthirsty.
The Shadows of Sin.

Men of Inked Series Book #1

SYNOPSIS:
Suzy’s a control freak and has her life mapped out - work hard, find a man with a stable job, and live happily ever after. She’s content with the status quo, but her plan comes to a screeching halt when he enters her life and turns it upside down. City gave up on love when his heart was crushed in college, preferring to be the typical bachelor. He spends his nights hopping from one bed to another and his days working at his family tattoo shop, Inked. A chance encounter on a dark road makes him question what he had sworn off forever – a relationship. A night of passion and lust causes them to question everything. Is City the knight in shining armor to the damsel in distress? Can their relationship survive when a fantasy falls apart and a secret comes out that changes everything?
“Do you swear?” I asked as she set the glass back on the bar.
“What?” She gaped at me.
“Do you swear? Simple question. You’ve said ‘heck’ and ‘friggin’’ so far, but nothing dirty.”
“Oh, um, yeah, I swear.” Her cheeks turned pink and a small smile spread across her face. “I’m just used to watching my words with the kids around all day.”
“Prove it,” I said as I stared in her blue sapphire eyes.
“What? Why?”
“Cause I need to know if it’s in you. Are you all good girl or is there more under there dying to come out?” I hid the smile and laughter that was so close to breaking free from my lips. The pink of her cheeks spread across her face. I know I embarrassed her, but fuck, I needed to know if I stood a chance.
“Yes, I swear. What do you think I am? I’m not a child, City.” She glared at me as she raised the drink to her lips and wrapped them around the rim. Fuck I wanted those lips wrapped around my shaft, taking me deep and sucking me off.
“Never said you were, babe. Do you drink besides tonight?” I asked, now smiling because I knew she was upset. I liked the fire I saw in her eyes when I pointed out her good girl qualities – she obviously didn’t like being labeled.
“Sometimes. I’m just responsible. I don’t drink and drive. My dad used to be a cop and it was drilled into my head at an early age.” The words she spoke hit me like a ton of bricks. Drunk driving was the one thing in the world that caused my blood to boil.
Good girl teacher with a cop father? Just my luck. “Nothin’ wrong with that. Virgin daiquiris aren’t always your thing, then?”
“Why? Do I have to be a drinker? I mean does it make me less of an adult?”
“No, Suzy. Just trying to get a feel for who you are – what you are.”

"Sometimes life doesn't give us what we're looking for, but it gives us what is supposed to be"
Wow...this book is HOT!  It has everything you could ask for. A hot, sexy, alpha male who has tattoos and piercings and rides a motorcycle. A heroine that is smart, sexy and classy a real "good girl" that has a dirty side to her. There is Hot, electric passion between Joey aka "City" and Suzzette aka "Suzy"
This is a story of fate. Stranded on an old country road with no signs of life Suzy has two options sit in her broken down car or walk. As she starts walking back the way she came a headlight approaches.  The sexiest man she has ever seen comes to her rescue.
City is enthralled with Suzy. She is so pure and beautiful he can't seem to get enough. Yet, his heart has been shattered before so he has walls surrounding his heart. He normally is a love them and leave them kinda man. That is, until Suzy. He can't get enough and he always gets what he wants.
Suzy has this idea of what her life should be. Who she should date and marry. Everything looks good on paper yet no one she "thinks" she should be with ever made her feel the way that City doesn't He is her ting to her yang. Complete opposites but a strong bond of love that is unbreakable.

I slowly walk in the direction of the noise. I have no idea why, snooping didn't exactly do me any favors the last time. There are a few more doors down here, one door is slightly open and I can tell it's a pool room. There are three pool tables spread around and I find the reason behind the noise. I've only ever been with one man at a time, in fact I've only ever been with douche-bag, but this girl has three. My brain races with the possibilities of what three men could do to my body.  After reading so many erotica books I’ve certainly fantasized about the things I’ve read, but it’s nothing compared to actually seeing it happen right in front of you.  Where I’m standing is dark, so even if they look up… they won’t be able to see me.  At least I hope not! The woman is naked, legs spread wide and laying on her back on the table.  One man has his head buried between her thighs, another thrusting his cock deep in her mouth at the edge of the table, and the third is licking her nipples from the other side. The sight is highly erotic and I'm immediately turned on. My eyes widen when they stop, flipping the girl over, dragging her down the table so one of the men can sit at its edge with her straddling his lap. The others take their positions, one behind her, the other standing above them all, giving the girl perfect access to his hard cock. Her moan fills the room as the three enter her, bumping and thrusting. I fight my own hands, biting on my lip. I am so turned on right now, I don't know what to do with myself. I think about running back to my room and taking care of myself, but I can't turn my eyes away from the scene acting out in front of me. I catch movement to my side, shocked to see Angel glaring at me. "Like what you see?" I stare wide eyed, I don't know what to say. I'm embarrassed he's caught me watching. He curses, looking back to the foursome.  The girl’s moaning becomes louder and I step back. I'm still turned on, my underwear is soaked, even though I'm ashamed at being caught watching. Angel looks at me, snickering before storming into the room. What the fuck is he doing?  photo 2

Logan's Redemption

Excerpt
“You’ve never changed your opinion of me, have you?” he asked in a hard voice.  “I’m still the boy from the bad neighborhood, not fit to be a father to your son.”  With a contemptuous glance, he turned away and strode to the fireplace.  He leaned on the mantel, his profile to her.  His chest rose and fell with his shallow breathing.
Doriana studied him.  His jaw set in a tight line.  His entire body looked coiled and ready to fight.  Or maybe flee.  Tears sprang to her eyes.  They’d come so far in the last weeks.  How had it all gone so terribly wrong?
“What do you want, Logan?”  She tangled her fingers through the long strand of pearls she wore, trying to rein in the anxiety that churned her stomach.
Logan’s hazel gaze impaled her.  “I want to be in Josh’s life.”
“What?”  She yanked on the pearl necklace.  The strand came apart in her hands.  She watched helplessly as beads rolled all over the floor.  My life is coming apart the same way.  She raised her gaze to find a stony-faced Logan staring at her with unyielding eyes.
“What’s your answer?”  He spit the words out.
“How long will you be in his life, Logan?  You’ll leave again and what will happen to Josh?  I will not see him hurt.”
Loganwas at her side in an instant.  He grasped her shoulders.  She winced at the anger in his eyes.  The twinkling lights of the tree reflected on the golden stubble of his beard, mocking the tension that arced between them like an electrical current.
“I’m Josh’s father,” he rasped.  “I’m not some stranger, here one day and gone the next.”
“Aren’t you?”  She bit down on her lip.  Hurt shattered the chiseled planes of Logan’s face.  She glimpsed the vulnerable young boy he’d once been, the boy she’d fallen in love with.  He released her as if he couldn’t bear to touch her.  Her throat thickened with tears.
“So that’s it.”  The quiet calmness of his voice damned her more than shouts.  “I’ve never been more than a temporary diversion to you.”
“That’s not true,” she whispered.  “I loved you.  I ....”   She stopped herself before she blurted that she loved him now.
“Do you really know what love is?”  His gaze raked her.  “You have no problem giving your body to me, but I’m not worth bothering with on any other level.”
Fury and pain pierced her like a carpenter’s awl.  “How dare you talk to me like that?”
He released a breath.  “I’m sorry.  I was out of line.”  Sadness creased his features.  “I just want to be in my son’s life.”
“How do I know you’ll be around for him?”
“Trust me.  Damn it, just trust me.”
Could she trust him?  Maybe she should ask him to stay.  What if he said no?  Could she take that chance?  Her insides shook.  “I can’t.”
“You can’t trust me?”  Steel hardened his voice.
She shook her head.  “No, that’s not it.”
“Then what is it, Dorie?”
Words dried in her throat.  He had to want her enough to never leave again.  She wouldn’t beg.
“Damn you,” he said in a thick whisper.
He pulled her to him and took her lips in a bruising kiss.  She held herself tight, resisting his pull.  His relentless lips demanded her surrender.  She could no more fight him than she could stop breathing.  And she loved him.  She twisted her arms around his neck and urged his lips apart with her tongue.
He let out a low groan.  His lips softened against hers and he opened his mouth for her.  He tasted like cinnamon coffee and mint.  She pressed closer.  He might leave and break her heart.  But he belonged to her now.
They slid to the floor together.  He leaned over her, his eyes dark and mysterious in the soft Christmas lights.  His unique scent of male and citrus mingled with the pine of the tree.  Those scents would forever remind her of Logan.
She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him down.  Molding her body to his, she kissed him with all the love and hope she couldn’t voice.  His taut frame covered her.  The urgency of his mouth and tongue excited her to a new wildness.  She would love him tonight with all she had to give.
His mouth plundered hers while his hands wandered down her body, massaging, stroking, driving her crazy with want.  Her soft cries filled the quiet room.
He leaned on his elbows and looked down at her.  Desire darkened his eyes, but something else stirred deep in the gold-flecked depths, something that reached out to the longings in her soul.  “Love me tonight, Logan,” she whispered.
“God help me, but I need you.” He undressed her and flung her clothes aside.  His own quickly followed.
She lay down again and held her arms out to him.  He lowered himself on top of her.  His flesh burned her heated skin.  The wool of the Oriental rug pressed into her bare back.  The slight pain intensified her passion for him.
“Now,” she whispered.  She wrapped her hand around his hard penis and guided him to her.  He entered her, taking her with a possessiveness that inflamed her.  Arching her hips against his, she molded her body to his.  She belonged to Logan.  Only this moment mattered.  She met his every hard thrust, urging him with her body to make her his forever.  She barely recognized the sound of her voice crying out his name.
He cupped her bottom, lifting her to meet him, driving deeper and deeper into her.
Her climax erupted, fast and furious, like a shower of dazzling stars, shooting her into the sky.  The lights from the tree overhead blurred and danced before her eyes.
Loganshuddered with his own climax.  She clung to him, running her hands over his muscled back, reveling in his heat and masculinity.
He collapsed on top of her.  The fragrance of pine joined with the musk of their lovemaking.
She wound her arms around Logan’s neck and closed her eyes.  She would sear this moment onto her brain.

OUR REVIEW
This book is a great story on a second chance with the love of your life. The chemistry between the main characters was perfect. In addition to the love story between Doriana and Logan there was some mystery and suspense. Logan came from a broken and trouble family; Doriana was the princess of Callahan Construction. Sixteen years later Logan comes back to town and begins working at Callahan Construction, again. No spoilers but I really enjoyed the story of the two of them.  I would recommend this book if you are looking for a love story with suspense.  I look forward to reading more of Cara Marsi’s books.

Excerpt #2

Doriana turned off the TV and dropped the remote on the bed. Thinking about Logan teased her with questions. Why was he at the fire site with her dad? That story about his having fire experience didn’t ring true. Logan and her father were hiding something.
Thankfully the workweek had been short with the two-day holiday. She needed time away from Logan and all the longings, confusion and guilt he stirred in her.
She trusted Anita to keep her secret. But she feared her own guilt would force the truth. Logan hadn’t cared enough to stay around the first time. Would knowing about Josh keep him here now? Doriana got up from the bed and ran impatient fingers through her hair. She was obsessing way too much about Logan.
She walked toward the bathroom, pulling her sweater over her head. Too bad she couldn’t peel away her problems as smoothly. The ring of the phone stopped her. Slipping her sweater back on, she hurried to answer it. Josh calling to say goodnight? She doubted it.
“Hello,” she said into the receiver.
Hello, sexy.” At the crude, unfamiliar voice, she tightened her grip on the phone. Chills chased up her spine.
“Who is this?”  Her voice shook.
“Oh, you don’t know me. Not yet. But I sure know you. You’re sexy as hell, especially in those tight black pants.”
Doriana slammed down the phone. Her insides shook and she ran trembling hands along the sides of her black pants. Had her caller guessed at what she wore, or was he watching? She gulped air.
The phone rang again and she let out a small cry. Balling her hands, she dug her nails into her palms. She would not pick up the phone. The answering machine clicked on.
“You can’t get away from me that easy.” The harsh voice, laced with menace, froze her. “I know you’re alone.” Almost seeing his leer, she shoved a shaking fist to her mouth.
“Let me in, bitch. I’ll show a hot number like you what a real man is. Not like that pretty boy you’ve been hanging around with.”
His loud cackle shot knife points of fear through her and she stifled a scream. The phone clicked off. The silence of the empty house closed around her. She glanced toward the windows. Could he see her through the sheer curtains?
Trembling, she sank onto the bed and clutched the chenille spread as if she could hide herself in its folds. She couldn’t stay here, but she dared not leave. He could be waiting outside. She hadn’t set the security alarm.
She reached for the phone. Her dad would know what to do.
With her hand on the receiver, she froze. Her dad had looked tired all day. He’d been under a lot of stress. Remembering his doctor’s advice to take it easy, she knew she couldn’t put more strain on him.
The cops? Would the police even get involved? And if they did, they’d come eventually and look around, then leave. And she’d still be alone.
Logan. He would help. She had his cell phone number somewhere. She ran to her purse where it lay on the floor and rummaged through it with nervous fingers until she found the slip of paper with Logan’s number.
Taking calming breaths she punched in the number. Please answer, Logan, please.
Her spirits sank with each unanswered ring. Was he with Candi? Or another woman? Hurt mingled with her fear.
“Tanner here.”
Relief spiked through her at the sound of his voice.
“Logan?” A sob escaped her.
“Doriana? What’s wrong?”
The concern in his voice made tears spill out. Despite the tension between them, Logan would protect her.
“Someone called,” she said, swiping at tears. “Outside. He knows where I live. He could hurt my son.” Anger, swift and hard, tightened her stomach. “The bastard will not touch my son.”
“No one will hurt you or your son, Doriana. Did you recognize his voice?”
“No, but he’s watching me. The son-of-a bitch. He said awful things. How dare he do this to me?”
“I’m coming right over. Give me your address.”

Nixon
I checked the time on my cell and leaned against the wall. The desert heat was not in any way helping my already-tense mood and irritated disposition. A guy walked by, flicking his cigarette into the dirt. Note to self: you know you're tense as hell when you’re halfway tempted to grab said cigarette and suck the nicotine dry from the remains.
And I didn’t even smoke.
Shhhit.
My head hurt, my muscles were sore, and Trace was pissed. I closed my eyes and leaned back against the building.
“Hey there.” A flirty voice interrupted my self-inflicted torture session. I opened one eye, then two. A blond-haired girl in six-inch heels and something I can only assume at one point use to be a shirt, hanging over her shoulder, walked into my personal space. Her shirt-dress thing barely met her thighs.
“Yes?” I kept my sunglasses on. If I took them off and glared, she’d probably run screaming down the street, and I wasn’t into scaring females… at least not in that way. I knew I looked downright pissed as hell.
“Just thought you looked lonely.” She lifted her shoulder and offered a teasing smile. Did that really work on other guys?
“You thought wrong,” I said simply. “I’m holding the wall up like Samson.”
“Samson?” She looked around as if waiting for another man to appear.
“From the Bible,” I clarified.
“The what?”
“Gotta love Vegas,” I muttered under my breath. “Look, I don’t want any.”
“Any what?” She ran a manicured nail down my chest, biting down on her lip at the same time. I could only imagine her point was to get me to stare at her lips, but all I felt was irritation. Damn Chase and Mil. I just wanted to go to bed, but I needed to talk with him before tomorrow.
“Sex.” My voice clipped. “I. Don’t. Want. Any.”
“But” She twirled a piece of blond- hair in her fingers.
“I’m gay.”
“Right.” She snorted.
“I’m into men.”
“Oh really?” She closed the distance between us. Just as I was ready to seriously put my hands on her and push, I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder.
“Hey there, hot stuff.” Tex said in a low voice as his hand grabbed my ass, cupping it with a little too much enthusiasm. “You ready?”
I ground my teeth together and forced a smile. “Yup.”
“Oh…” The girl stepped back. “Um, sorry, you guys, uh, enjoy your night.” She pushed past Tex so fast I was afraid she was going to teeter off her heels and get hit by a taxi.
“Tex.” I seethed.
“Hmm?” He took off his sunglasses and tilted his head as the girl hurried away.
“You can take your hand off my ass now.”
“Why? Afraid you like it too much?”
I pushed against him.
“Just embrace your feelings!” He shouted, earning the attention of a family walking by with their two little kids.
I grabbed him by the front of his shirt and threw him few feet away from me, trying my damnedest not to smile.
“Admit it. You keep me around for comic relief.” Tex nodded with a smirk.
“I admit nothing.” I lost the war against smiling and started laughing. “But I do keep your ass away from Campisi, so remember that next time you start yelling about me being your lover.”
“True.” Tex grinned. “Oh, and P.S., don’t knock it till you try it.”
“P.S.,” I repeated in the same voice. “Still pissed at you for screwing over my sister.”
“Yeah well.” Tex sobered. “It’s for the best.”
“Breaking her heart and bringing in whores is what’s best for her?”
Tex lifted his hands into the air. “Look, I didn’t say my methods were sound or that they were intelligent, just let us deal with it, okay? We’re big kids.”
“Kids.” I snorted. “That about sums it up.”
A town car pulled up next to the curb. Chase got out and then held out his hand to Mil. My eyes narrowed; she looked different. Happier.
Her mom had just died, and she'd survived a bombing.
And she was smiling like the Taliban had just declared world peace.
Chase gripped her so tight that I saw the white of his knuckles.
I tilted my head, still watching them when Tex said. “Dude, you get laid?”
“Tex,” I snapped. “Go get something for their luggage.”
“But
“Go.”
Tex flipped me off, but ended up jogging over to the main entrance while I inspected both Mil and Chase. “I’m not saying this to be an ass
“Here we go.” Mil crossed her arms.
Chase waited.
I licked my lips and tried to appear indifferent. “But if you guys start screwing each other now, I may have to shoot one or both of you. It’s not the time to play house, got it?”
“Play house,” Chase repeated in a deadpan voice as he dipped his free hand into his back pocket, most likely clenching a pair of brass knuckles.
“I know it’s your honeymoon,” I continued. “But this [P1] little scenario you’ve got going on with the whole hot and cold is going to have to wait until everyone’s safe. So Chase, keep it in your pants for once in your life, and Mil, stop trying to seduce the poor kid, alright? It’s like dangling a damn fry in front of a seagull.”
“Who’s a fry?” Tex asked, pulling the luggage cart with him.
“Mil.”
“Are we eating dinner or something? Because I have to admit,” Tex leaned against the cart, “I’m freaking starving.” He eyed Chase and Mil. “Then again, I’m sure you both are too. All those extracurricular really take it out of ya.”
Chase took off his sunglasses, his face twisting in irritation and annoyance, no smile. Nothing. He was pissed.
“Chase,” I said slowly. “You know I’m right. You’re the best I have. I need your focus to be on The Family. Your family. Then you can screw all you want, okay?”
Mil looked like she wanted to punch me in the face. Chase took a step forward, but she stopped him.
“Good talk.” I exhaled. “Chase, I’ll see you down in the bar in a half-hour, okay? We have business to discuss. Mil, you can go find the girls. They’re having dinner out by the pool.”
Nobody moved.
After a few seconds of tense silence where I was pretty sure Chase was trying to convince himself not to strangle me to death, Tex cleared his throat and pointed to the luggage. “You guys need help, then?”
“Yeah,” Chase croaked. “Thanks.”
We loaded them up and sent them on their way.
“Tell me,” Tex asked once we were walking back toward the bar. “Is your only goal to see how far you can push Chase before he kills you in your sleep?”

AUTHOR BIO
Have you ever woken up one day and said, “Today’s the day I’m going to do (insert thing here)?” Well, I did, and the result is my first novel, Stay. I always thought of myself as a decent writer, and then a trip down memory lane through my ninth grade book of poetry confirmed it. I realize that I have always had a romantic side and a way with words. With support from my husband and kids (and an unspoken agreement to leave me alone for a few hours every night), I embarked on this incredible writing journey.

I’m originally from sunny Southern California and spent my summers in South Florida. I attended college at FSU and received my Masters in New Mexico. I finally settled in the Washington, DC area. My happy place has always been anywhere near the water.

When I’m not writing, I help run a business with my husband, watch an inordinate amount of sports (my kids play something 365 days a year), indulge my competitive spirit on the tennis court, and spend time with my awesome family and friends.

I am an avid reader, but find my characters feel neglected when I hang out with other author’s characters for too long. When I do read, historical fiction is my favorite genre. I love traveling and experiencing different cultures, places, and times.

I feel so blessed that my love of books inspired me to finally do something that I forgot I had always dreamed about doing.

My someday has arrived!
